Gifted Vs. Anointed
Part III: Anointed and Appointed
Being ANOINTED does not mean you have been APPOINTED yet.
King David was anointed at 17 but he was appointed king at 37.
It took him 20 years to become WHO HE ALREADY WAS.
There is a process between where God anoints you and appoints you.
3 things I am learning during the in-betweens of being anointed and being appointed:
- God will always be creating NEW THINGS.
It is never about imitating someone’s gifts or abilities.
God is never looking for the next _______ (pick any famous pastor, worship leader, innovator, communicator, business leader etc. that has similar gifts to you).
God make new things, he makes NEW WINE for the NEW WINESKIN.
2. God chooses you and equips you.
You will have grace for your race.
Make sure you stay in your own lane.
Sometimes people emotionally crumble or get burnt out easily when they are running a race that they do not (or aren’t given) the grace for.
3. God develops your heart.
God looks at your heart and develops it to be more like him. When what is inside you (your heart) and what is outside of you (image, actions) is not consistent, it will stress you out and will eventually make you crumble. What happens when you are not applauded, underappreciated, unnoticed? It is when you learn to deal with these situations, can you sustain yourself when the spotlight comes. God wants you to come to the dark room (Part I), and allow yourself to be crushed (Part II) so He can develop you. If you choose to prematurely step into the spotlight, what is in you (your true heart issues) will eventually be squeezed out of you in the public light.
Just because you are anointed, does not mean you have been appointed yet. We need to allow God to work through our heart issues before stepping into the calling and season He has appointed for us.
